Frost & Sullivan confers the 2007 Product Differentiation Innovation Award on Quintum in recognition of its ability to grow and strengthen its position in
the enterprise media gateway market through intensive in-house product development.
Traditionally, standalone gateway vendors have offered products that rely on the network's intelligence to support their operation. Quintum has addressed
this issue with its Tenor series, which features its "Multipath" architecture that allows easy deployment with minimum disruption for the network.
Some of the features and capabilities that make Quintum's Tenor series ideally suited for enterprises deploying VoIP include the following: "MultiPath"
switch design , dynamic call routing with a universal programmable dial plan, survivability of voice services auto-provisioning, easy management and a
broad product line with multiple configurations available.
MultiPath Switch Design
The unique switching design that Quintum's gateways feature makes them very simple to deploy. The Tenor
series gateways can be connected to any existing legacy network without the need for any PBX modification or reprogramming.
The Tenors allow integrating legacy telephony equipment with VoIP networks using line-side ports, connecting to the PSTN for local presence and back-up 911
services using trunk-side ports and providing intelligent call routing between the legacy and the VoIP connections.
Dynamic Call Routing with Universal Programmable Dial Plan
The Tenor series can be programmed to support multiple routing. Unlike ordinary gateways, Quintum's Tenor products allow calls to be routed not just
between sites but to any device or network whether it is legacy or VoIP. Therefore, this capability allows calls to be intelligently routed between legacy
analog devices, VoIP end points and the PSTN in a branch office deployment.
This allows a call placed from a traditional PBX to be transparently routed over the IP network to another one where the call would be identified as a
regional call and would be sent out over the PSTN.
Additionally, the Tenor features a Universal Programmable Dial Plan that grants programmability for interfacing to any private or public network around the
world. For that reason, with the appropriate dial plan, post-dial delay is minimized avoiding the wait time that can occur with simpler gateways.
Survivability of Voice Services
In the case of branch office deployments, Quintum's solution offers an integrated H.323 gatekeeper or a local SIP proxy in order to provide
survivability. The Tenor can be deployed for SIP IP PBXs or IP Centrex services preserving voice service availability.
This SIP proxy enables basic essential calling functions even when the connection to the central or hosted IP PBX is lost. Additionally, this proxy
provides the necessary routing intelligence to grant users dial tone and basic capabilities and features.
Auto-provisioning
When service providers deploy gateways to enterprise customers they have to provide firmware and configuration for each of the systems deployed.
Traditional gateways require the use of configuration tools to individually configure each device that is deployed. On the other hand, Quintum's
auto-provisioning capability simplifies this process by having the Tenor connect to a provisioning server to acquire the configuration information.
Therefore, auto-provisioning makes Quintum's solution appear extremely appealing for service providers as it connects the office systems with the equipment
deployed in the field. The auto-provisioning feature also supports provisioning server discovery, firmware updates, and configuration updates.
Anywhere, Anytime Management
Quintum's Tenor Series features a
Remote Management Session Server (RMSS). This allows IT teams to
simply and securely manage switches and gateways that are widely distributed from a single application. The RMSS is responsible for the system
configuration, performance monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting. The RMSS also grants the remote upgrade functionality that is necessary to optimize
and maintain the quality of the VoIP services.
Broad Product Line with Multiple Configurations available
Quintum Tenor Line features a
variety of sizes and configurations available to meet any business VoIP infrastructure
requirements.
