- In an industry first, Quintum Technologies, Inc. is offering customers a written commitment guaranteeing that IP voice calls made over its new Tenor™ MultiPath VoIP Gateway will go through to completion, President Cheng T. Chen announced today. Introduced at the CTI Expo, the Tenor Gateway allows a low-risk, easy and affordable implementation of VoIP into an enterprise's existing network infrastructure, without a trade-off in voice quality or reliability. Its unique technology provides businesses the same reliability and voice clarity that users receive from their traditional phone service, using existing bandwidth from the corporate Intranet.
Voice and Call Connection Quality Assured with TASQ™ Technology
The Tenor MultiPath Gateway monitors voice quality, a common issue with IP telephony, where lost packets can produce voice quality well below that of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The Tenor Gateway's Transparent Auto-Switch Quality (TASQ™) Technology™ continuously evaluates call connections. If at any time during a call, the TASQ Technology senses the potential for voice quality degradation, interference or other impedance, the call is transparently switched to the PSTN. TASQ™ Auto-Switching Technology assures that all calls maintain a high quality voice connection.
"Corporate decision-makers often still assume IP telephony is too unreliable for use in their daily, mission-critical operations," Cheng said. "The Tenor Gateway bridges that gap by creating a converged network that combines the voice clarity and dependability of the public telephone networks, with ease of integration and cost-effectiveness of an IP network."
Ease of installation, Use and Maintenance
The Tenor MultiPath Gateway is a "plug-and-play" unit, designed for ease of use, installation and maintenance. It offers an H.323 compliant gateway and gatekeeper for interoperability with other VoIP gateway products. The Tenor Gateway is not dependent upon any particular vendor's proprietary architecture or protocol. It requires no additional computers, PBX hardware, software or reconfiguration of an existing network infrastructure. All telephones and fax equipment remain connected to the PBX and are used as they always have been. The units are also compact and highly scalable, able to support up to 960 simultaneous calls per location.
"The Tenor Gateway allows businesses to reap the benefits of Internet telephony, without giving anything up but higher costs," Cheng noted. "It's easy to install, use and manage, with just an affordable one-time investment and no risk. The Tenor Gateway offers companies the best of both worlds - an easy migration path for a VoIP solution combining the efficiencies of the public networks and the Internet."
Telephony Reliability via Guaranteed Connections
The Tenor Multi-Path Gateway addresses VoIP reliability concerns using an embedded architecture designed to stringent telephony standards. If the Gateway suffers any type of failure - even loss of power, the Gateway simply becomes a wire extension of the PBX. This "pass-through" feature assures that phone service will not be interrupted.
Quintum's unique MultiPath Call Connection (MC2) Commitment assures that calls will be connected 100 percent of the time. This guarantee makes Quintum the first manufacturer in the VoIP industry to guarantee 100 percent the functionality of its VoIP solution.
Beta Tests Complete
With successful beta test now successfully completed, Tenor is generally available. Josephine Chang, marketing manager for beta customer C2C reports, "The calls are very clear and crisp. You can't tell that we're using Voice over IP and none of the customers we've tested has noticed a difference."
She continues, "Based on the beta, we expect Tenor to have a positive impact on our cost of doing business - and we can pass that savings on to our customers. This technology helps us enhance our services, improve our bottom line, and overall make us much more competitive."
Availability and Pricing
The Tenor VoIP Gateway system is priced from ,000. It is available from Quintum Technologies' direct sales force and will also be marketed through VARs/system integrators.
